During a local Lions' Club meeting for fundraising, the hobby horse races were brought up. Arleen Lewis recalled a cruise she was on, where she watched one of the on board games during a day at sea. Passengers particpated in a fantasy race using hobby horses. There were a lot of laughs, and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
It's no secret that the Santa Ynez valley is home to some of the best horse flesh in the west. Champion racehorses like Bertrando, Lit De Justice, Atticus, and others live just minutes away from Lompoc. This "FUNd-racer", along with other events held throughout the year, helps the North County Rape Crisis & Child Protection Center (NCRCCPC) continue its efforts in aiding those affected by the trauma of sexual assault and child abuse.
